Tell Congress: NO CUTS to Medicaid!

Here’s a question for you:

Q: Why do Republicans in Congress want to cut $880 billion in funding for Medicaid?

A: So they can take those savings to help them finance huge tax breaks for the rich.

We cannot let that happen. Protecting and expanding Medicaid is not just a healthcare issue, it’s a public safety imperative.  Studies have shown that when individuals have access to mental health services, substance use treatment, and preventive care through Medicaid – we reduce crime, lower incarceration rates, and ease the burden on emergency rooms, first responders, and law enforcement.

Investing in Medicaid isn’t just compassionate policy — it's a smart public safety strategy. These cuts will harm millions of already struggling families spanning every state, city, and community. Programs like these strengthen public health while lowering costs – and we must protect them.

It’s imperative we put pressure on Congress to oppose this proposed budget resolution. It may save money in the short term, but it will cost much more in dollars and lives in the end. Please, stand with Dream.Org and tell Congress NO CUTS to Medicaid.

    Dear Congress member,

I strongly urge you to vote NO on the budget resolution – this is not the “big, beautiful bill” you might think it is.

This budget includes $880 billion in Medicaid cuts and $230 billion in cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – two lifesaving programs for tens of millions of hard working Americans and children. This proposition isn’t cost-effective, it's cruel. We must prioritize this as an issue of public safety.

Not only are the proposed cuts cruel, they’re just nonsensical. Medicaid strengthens public health and lowers costs – saving lives and money in the long run. Gutting the program will have a ripple effect:

    • States that expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act have seen significant drops in overdose deaths and increased access to addiction treatment - showing real results in the fight against substance use (disorders) and crime
    • Other funded programs - like naloxone distribution and overdose prevention - help curb the opioid crisis and reduce public health costs
    • Medicaid is the nation’s largest payer for mental health care, reducing the burden on emergency rooms and law enforcement
    • Crisis response teams, mental health courts, and diversion programs saves taxpayer dollars by reducing unnecessary incarceration and emergency room visits
    • Medication-assisted treatments via Medicaid like buprenorphine and methadone are proven to reduce overdose deaths and improve recovery outcomes

The cuts being called for by the House budget stands as a massive threat to the people of every state, city, and community. Expanding and protecting Medicaid is not just a healthcare issue, it’s a public safety imperative – and destroying it will have devastating long term effects on the American people.

Please reconsider this horrendous and unfair budget resolution.

    Thank you.
