Tell Congress: Power Our Country into the 21st Century — Upgrade the Grid!
Welcome to the 21st century, where our energy needs have evolved, but our power grid? Not so much. The White House has a goal of 80% US renewable energy generation by 2030, but how can we expect to lead a green revolution when we don’t have the infrastructure to support it?
These aging structures must adapt to efficiently integrate new clean energy sources, support widespread electrification, and endure increasingly more severe climate-related weather events like drastic heatwaves, cold snaps, or tropical storms. However, in its current state, the power grid is grossly inadequate to meet those demands. And while our government delays updating our grid, we are the ones paying the price whether that means outrageous energy bills or suffering through days of power cuts right when we need it most. Why should we foot the bill for this outdated system?
It’s time for electricity that’s not stuck in the past! Upgrading the grid and expanding transmission lines will improve reliability, lower electricity bills, and ensure we are ready for the clean energy transition.
Join the movement for a power supply that's not stuck in the last century; urge Congress to invest in a grid that is equitable and equipped to meet the needs of modern society.
