Governor Lujan Grisham: Expose the Truth, End Mask Enforcement

Let’s unmask the truth. As we speak, masked ICE agents are roaming New Mexican streets, deliberately hiding their identities while bullying and terrorizing communities.

With no faces and no names, they avoid any and all accountability. This kind of enforcement blurs the line between lawful authority and intimidation, fuels fear, invites abuse, and leaves families with nowhere to turn. That’s why we’re demanding that Michelle Lujan Grisham include H.B. 208 on the Governor’s Call and take a stand against masked enforcement.

Masked agents deepen distrust between law enforcement and the public, discourage people from seeking healthcare or emergency help, and escalate risk in communities already carrying trauma.

Signing this petition is a refusal to accept fear as policy. It’s a demand for transparency, dignity, and real accountability. Add your name and help make it clear: New Mexico deserves safety built on trust — and that starts by unmasking agents like ICE.

No name, no face, means no accountability!

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Chief General Counsel Agajanian,

I urge you to support H.B. 208 and to include this legislation on your upcoming call. Clear identification in law enforcement is essential to maintaining public trust, preventing abuse or mistaken identity, and ensuring accountability. Masked enforcement undermines these principles, creating fear and confusion while discouraging residents from seeking healthcare, emergency services, or other critical support.

HB208 presents an important opportunity to reaffirm New Mexico’s commitment to transparency, dignity, and community safety. By advancing this bill, you can help strengthen trust between communities and public institutions while promoting a public safety framework grounded in accountability rather than intimidation.

I ask that you move HB208 forward in the interest of protecting all of us who live in New Mexico.
