We Need a National Green Bank

Now that the Inflation Reduction Act is law, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has the opportunity to provide $27 Billion in grants for climate projects.

The problem? The EPA only has 180 days to designate these funds — not nearly enough time to approve thousands of individual grant applications, and especially not to intentionally prioritize the Black & Brown communities that are most impacted by climate change.

The solution? Creating a National Green Bank. This is a common-sense solution that will remove funding barriers for clean energy projects. Instead of relying on one-time government grants, a National Green Bank will multiply initial government investment to support the growth of an equitable green economy.

Join us in calling on the EPA to allocate at least $20 billion in climate funding to create a National Green Bank, so climate investments go to those who are most impacted and not to those with the most influence.

We the people believe that we need a National Green Bank to ensure climate funding reaches the communities that most need it. Please use at least $20 billion in GGRF funding to create a National Green Bank that would:

    1. Cut costs
    2. Ensure no one is left out of the process
    3. Build investments around community needs
    4. Increase efficiency of climate investments
    5. Improve equity by unlocking funds for minority businesses and Black and Brown communities

Thank you for your attention to this important issue. Our climate future depends on it.
